The Clayton Valley Athletic Hall of Fame will begin to consider nominees for our 8th induction class in the Fall of 2026. The ‘new inductees’ will be honored at our Hall of Fame banquet in the Spring of 2027. Please check out our online form under the icon NOMINATE. All nominees, boys and girls, will be considered by the committee. You can also email questions or inquiries to: admin@cvhshof.com

Our 7th induction ceremony was held in May 2025 and was considered by many to be our best banquet and ceremony. All inductees were at the banquet or represented by loved ones. The ceremony was highlighted be many moving speeches and poignant moments. All presenters and inductees did their best to stay within our time constraints. Thanks to everyone who participated, including guests and volunteers.

HOF Class of 2023: Coming Soon!

Clayton Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame will host its seventh induction ceremony on Friday May 19, 2023 at the Concord Centre. (Behind the Clayton Valley Bowl). Social hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the presentation of inductees. Ticket information will follow. Nomination forms are available at this website and are being accepted now.
The Hall of Fame committee is delighted that they will finally be able to select another class of honorees after what will be a four year hiatus since last celebrating its sixth class in 2019. Alumni an community members are able to nominate athletes for consideration.

A new icon has been added to the Home page – NOMINATE – at the top right. Click on this icon and you will be introduced to our new online nomination form. This form has been done in an abbreviated fashion so that anyone can quickly and easily nominate and submit a new candidate for the CVHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Once submitted, your nominee will be considered for entry into the HOF. A few items to remember: the HOF Committee will start reviewing new nominees in the Fall of 2022; the announcement of the new class of inductees will take place in the Winter of 2023; the next induction ceremony will take place in the Spring of 2023.

Some guidelines for completing the form:

Nominees must have graduated ten years prior to induction year (therefore, 2011 or prior)
Please include the nominees e-mail and telephone information. We sometimes contact them for further information and will eventually need this if they are formally invited to the induction ceremony
Include your own (nominators) email information for the same reasons
Nominations can be made in three areas: 1) Individual athletes 2) Teams 3) Coaches, Administrators or Community members who have made significant contributions to the Clayton Valley sports programs
Please list all sports that the individual athlete, coach or contributor was involved in
List the years they participated, i.e. – Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior – or timeline of contributions of coaches, administrators, or community supporters
Please list, by year, accomplishments, awards and recognitions received by nominee. These can include school awards, all-league honors, championships won and so on
We also like to know something about college, career and family. Many CVHS athletes have gone on to college sports careers, professional sports and even the Olympics
We will reach out to the nominee or nominator if we need additional information

Big Crowd at HOF Banquet

An excited crowd of inductees, alumni and well wishers packed the house at the 6th annual Hall of Fame awards banquet. The event was held Friday May 3, 2019 at the Shadelands Art Center where seven athletes, three teams and two coaches were inducted into the CVHS Athletic Hall of Fame. The event was hosted by Herc Pardi who was supported by the HOF committee members and community supporters. One by one, inductees were introduced by their personal presenters that was followed by an acceptance speech by all inductees. This years athlete inductees were: Gary Logsdon ’65, Bruce Kopitar ’77, Warren Turnage ’78, Benson Jones ’98, Natalie Nelson ’00, Katie Webber Caderao ’00 and Lindsay Nelson ’03. George Smylie was inducted in the coaches group and Pat Middendorf in the community service area. In addition three teams were also inducted – the 1978 Wrestling Team, 1979 Girls Volleyball Team and the 1999 Boys Swimming Team. The next inductee ceremony will take place in the Spring of 2021 with a new crop of HOF members. The 2019 Hall of Fame inductee banquet is right around the corner and we would like to invite everyone to join us at the gala. The event is Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Shadelands Art Center (111 Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek, CA 94598. The event will start at 5:00 pm with a social (no host wine and beer), followed by dinner at 6:30 pm and the induction ceremony at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available through the Clayton Valley High School web site. (Go to www.claytonvalley.org and click on “web store” to purchase tickets), or send a check ($50.00 adults *$25.00 kids 12 and younger) to CVHS Hall of Fame, PO Box 649, Clayton, CA 94517. (*Children’s tickets can only be purchased via U.S. Mail, they are not available on the “web store”. Last day to purchase tickets on-line is April 29, 2019.

Hall of Fame Bocce Ball Tournament is huge success!

The first Hall of Fame Bocce Ball fund raiser took place on Saturday, April 13 – after a three week delay due to a rain-out on March 23. After the weather delay, members of the sixteen Bocce teams were ready to go on Saturday morning. Hall of Fame Committee members with he help of the Ipsen Bocce Court tournament director Dennis Mitchell got the teams rolling on time at 9:00 am. After a round robin tournament that lasted all morning and into the afternoon, the Ed’s Mudville Grill team (captained by Carol Ricetti) defeated the Members Only team (captained by Steve Gonsalves) in an overtime thriller for the championship win. The first place team won a cash prize of $800.00 and the runner-ups won $400.00. The team Take It (captained by Cathy Duckworth) defeated Mike’s Auto Body (captained by Bob Rose) for 3rd place. Thanks to everyone who entered the tournament and a special thanks to Skippolini’s, Ed’s Mudville Grill, Kent Ipsen and Ed Moresi for their continuing generous support. And thanks to the dozens of players and alumni who attended and participated in the event. Special thanks to the Members Only team who donated their prize winnings to the Hall of Fame. The Clayton Valley Athletic Hall of Fame is hosting a fundraising Bocce Ball Tournament on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Time: 9am to 2pm.

Where: Ipsen Bocce Court (“Clayton Bocce/Ipsen Family Bocce Park”) – in downtown Clayton.

Cost: $400.00 per team (room for 16 teams)

Top Prize: $500.00 cash.

Class of 2019 Inductees Announced

The sixth CVHS induction class was announced earlier the month by the Hall of Fame Committee. Athletes, coaches and community winners will be inducted formally on May 3, 2019 at the Shadelands Arts Center in Walnut Creek. This years group includes seven athletes, one coach and community leader along with three North Coast championship teams. This years group of inductees includes: Gary Logsdon, ’65, football, basketball, baseball, Bruce Kopitar, ’77, football, wrestling, Warren Turnage, ’78, wrestling, Benson Jones, ’98, football, basketball, track, Katie Webber, ’00, volleyball, basketball, golf, Natalie Nelson, ’00, water polo, basketball, swimming, Lindsay Nelson, ’03, water polo, swimming. Former coaches George Smylie and former coach and athletic director Pat Middendorf will also be inducted. NCS championship teams being honored are the 1978 wrestling team, the 1979 girls volleyball team and the 1999 boys swimming team. Full biographies will published in the near future.
